Explore New York's Capital Region with me...
Albany is a city full of history and opportunity. It's a lovely mix of old and new. So close to many jobs and shops. Has a great downtown area with restaurants and night life. While Albany is probably the most urban of the Capital District cities, it also has some of the most beautiful city parks and historic buildings. I am enjoying getting to know this city more and more.
Troy is a city near and dear to my heart. It's where I lived in my first apartment and where I made so many great memories. I think it is the perfect mix of small community and city downtown feel. There are so many small businesses - the boutiques, coffee shops, farmers market, restaurants, and bars. You really get to know the faces behind the businesses and it is so lovely to feel like part of a community. Troy also has beautiful old architecture and a lot of history.
While I think that Albany and Troy may be at the heart of the capital region, there are so many wonderful cities and towns to live in, work in, and explore. Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, and the beginnings of the
Adirondacks are all just a drive away.
Let's share some of our local favorites and inspiration
Those of you that live here probably know that it really is a wonderful place. There is so much around to enjoy and I hope that this website gives you some ideas about places to visit and things to do that maybe you hadn't thought to before. I also hope that you will share your thoughts and local finds so others (and I) can learn about the places you love to go.
