A Little More About Me...

Just a collection of fun facts about me and an introduction to what I may be posting about on the blog in the future.

I love love love old homes and old things. I am now living in an early 1900s duplex in Albany with my partner and our cat Lana. I also have been fostering cats for Whiskers cat rescue since Spring 2020, so we also have a foster cat who lives primarily in my home office. Here's Lana and some of the fosters I've had over the years.

I'm originally from Long Island, so naturally I love the beach, bagels, and pizza. I do really love being in upstate New York. I love being in nature and going for hikes or canoeing. And I certainly don't miss the traffic! I also have a love (although some may call it an addiction) to coffee. At home, I mostly drink my coffee black and use a French press. If I go out to a coffee shop, I usually like to order a cappuccino. I have so many favorite coffee shops, brunch spots, restaurants in the capital district that I would love to share with you.

From a young age I have always been creative and artistic. For a while I wanted to be an architect, then for an even longer time I wanted to be a fashion designer. I have had many creative hobbies over the years. I was in a cappella in college and have always loved to sing and perform. I love painting and have some of my pieces on display in my home. I also love photography and have been trying to implement it into my business more and more. I also love interior design and giving old things new life. I would say about 90% of my home décor and furniture I got second hand. I love that they all have imperfections and stories behind them.

I recently have gotten into old cars as well, specifically old Volkswagens. I have been working on restoring a 1982 VW Vanagon Westfalia. I hope to have it ready to go exploring soon. It's got a lot of quirks, but is also very well designed. I feel the same way of old houses. They may be quirky, but they are so beautiful and full of character and stories. Some have evolved over the years, for better or for worse. There's something so wonderful about living spaces in that they are living and changing with us. Everyone's needs and styles are different and I really do think that the right house is out there for everyone.

That pretty much sums me up, I would love to hear a little bit about you! Leave me a comment or send me a message with a fun fact about yourself or something you'd like to see on the blog :)
